Requirements:

• If you are using an HAI home control system with your switch you must install a UPB™ PIM & cable (HAI Part Number 36A00-1).
  
  
• If you are using the HAI Upstart Configuration software you must install an UPB™ PIM & cable (HAI Part Number 36A00-1) and a cable to connect your PIM to a computer (HAI Part Number 36A05-2).
  
  

Recommendation:

HAI recommends that every HAI Lighting Control (HLC) installation include a Phase Coupler (HAI Part Number 39A00-1).

Usage

The HAI UPB™ 1000W Switch is capable of storing up to 16 preset light levels to create powerful lighting scenes. It is capable of being set to a non-dimming mode (see Configuration Software below) in order to control loads, such as fluorescent lights, that do not belong on a dimming switch.

HLC Products work as stand-alone or with a Home Control System.

An HAI home control system has the ability to change your light settings by the time of day, a set schedule, by the triggering of events (including motion), via a telephone call, Touchscreen, Smartphone, or by a computer connected to the Internet.

About HLC

All HLC products are UL Listed and use Generation II Universal Powerline Bus (UPB™) – a digital communications standard for lighting and home control that ensures superior reliability. UPB™ has been extensively tested and researched in residential environments and found to be 99.9 percent reliable. UPB™ works over existing wires in a home and does not require new wiring.

Switch Operation

The 1000W switch has a Decora-style rocker switch that may be used to control the lighting load as follows:

Switch LED

The 1000W switch comes with equipped with a multi-color LED indicator, which may be set to off, blue, red, or magenta. The default settings are as follows:

Switch is off - LED is blue
Switch is on - LED is off

You may change these default colors by using the HAI UPB™ UPStart configuration software (see below).

De-rating

When this switch is mounted in a normal depth wall box it must be de-rated from 1000W down to 900W.

For a proper fit in a multiple gang installation, it may be necessary to remove one or both of the break-off tabs on the sides of the 1000W switch. When tabs are removed, the overall rating of the device must be reduced in accordance with the following chart:

Colors

The paddle portion of the switch is not removable for the 1000W switch; accordingly, you must order your desired color. It is available in White (WH), Ivory (IV), Almond (AL), Light Almond (LTA), Brown (BR), Grey (GR), and Black (BL) colors.

Important Color Note: The 1000W switch is color matched to Lutron colors and the rest of the HLC product line is color matched to Leviton colors. While the White and Ivory colors match exactly in these two styles, the rest of the colors, especially the Almond and Light Almond colors, have a slight color variation.

Wallplate

No Wallplate is included when you purchase this switch. With the exception of the 1500W and 2400W models, HLC switches accommodate standard Decora-style wallplates. Mix and match to easily add a personalized touch to any room.

Configuration Software

When used with an HAI Home Control System HLC products automatically configure themselves, and outside software is not required. HAI offers HAI UPB™ UPStart Configuration software for professionals who desire to make advanced changes to our default setup.

HAI UPB™ UPStart configuration software will allow you to change the function of this dimming switch to be non-dimming or vice-versa. This software also allows you to change the colors on the switch's LED and the rate that it brightens to fully on or dims to fully off.
